Viewing a FlexDoc's Content

Let’s explore how to view a FlexDoc as a user seeking out information in Joy.

A FlexDoc is a type of asset made up of different pages, each containing content such as text and media.

You can create a FlexDoc using the FlexDoc Editor.


Where to view a FlexDoc

You can view FlexDocs in two main places:

  • In the Knowledge Center: This is your organization's central library for all assets, including FlexDocs. You can browse through folders or search to find a specific FlexDoc, then click on the card to view it.

  • The Tasks page: Sometimes, a FlexDoc will be assigned to you to complete as part of a task. When this happens, it will show up conveniently on your My Tasks page. Click on a task’s card to view its associated FlexDoc.

Parts of a FlexDoc

FlexDocs are organized into two main sections.

On the one side, you can see a list of all the pages within the FlexDoc, similar to a table of contents. By looking at the different page names, you can get a general idea of what’s included in the FlexDoc and how it’s structured. Click on a page name to jump to that part of the FlexDoc.

On the other side, you can see the content included in the FlexDoc, such as text, media (e.g., images, videos, audio), tables, headings, and more.

Viewing an image in a FlexDoc

Double-click an image to enlarge it in an overlay with additional view options. For example, you can zoom in or out to view the image better. This feature is useful when viewing diagrams or images containing text. You can also click to move between images in the FlexDoc.

To return to the main FlexDoc content, click the Close icon. Close icon or click anywhere outside of the image overlay.

Viewing a video in a FlexDoc

Videos in FlexDocs feature intuitive playback controls with options to play or pause content, adjust audio levels, and expand the video to full-screen mode.

Use a familiar audio player to play, pause, and adjust the volume of audio clips included in a FlexDoc.

Viewing files in a FlexDoc

To view a file in a FlexDoc, download it by clicking its name.

Completing a FlexDoc (acknowledgement message)

When viewing a FlexDoc that is assigned to you as a task, you'll see a message at the top of the document asking you to confirm you've read it.

Click Mark as Complete to acknowledge you have read the FlexDoc and mark the task as complete.

The task will automatically move to the Completed column on your My Tasks page and the status will change to Closed. When a task is closed, it means that no further action is needed.
